God changed my life...

I am the fourth child of six siblings in the family. My plan is to become a successful Architect.

During my growing years, I only had my father as my teacher, buddy & best friend. He showed me what was life was all about, like enjoying being with friends, drinking and experiencing the “night life”. Above all, I was always scared to come home because for sure my parents would fight and argue regarding my father’s lifestyle. To be honest, I never enjoyed it. Yes, we were living a good life but there was no peace at home.

Not until, I started to ask God about “is this what life is all about?” If this is what it is, for sure I don’t want to live in this kind of life. So I started to search for the truth because I believe there is a God who loves us and don’t want us to destroy our lives.

One day somebody shared to us about the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. When I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ to be my Lord and Savior, things have changed for the better. The whole family now attends our weekly bible study and church service. The greatest miracle is that the whole family is serving the Lord.

I thank God for allowing me to be part of our church basketball team. This has allowed me to meet new friends and share to them the Lord Jesus Christ. I really enjoy my ministry in sports. I did not realize that God can use basketball as a vehicle to glorify Him.

I realize that ICBL is really a different league, it has taught me that it is not a matter of winning the game but the matter of trying our best for the Lord.

A Source of Change (Testimony of Coach Rael Diaz)

I was born with a different eye defect (partially cross-eyed). I grew up with a lot of resentments. In short, I was a very insecure person even up to the point of asking God why was I born this way.

As a person I really love the game of basketball. Because of my interest in the sport, I started to get involve in basketball clinics and even knowing how to officiate a game. My involvement with sports resulted to coaching a local high school team in our area. Soon I was invited by a pastor to coach his church-team that was going to join ICBL, a local church-based league.

Suddenly, our pastor started to share the word of God during our team practices and even invited us to his church services. As a coach, I set an example to the players so I made sure that I was one of the first who will attend the church services. I started to read the bible and made sure I was listening to the sermon of our pastor. During one of our regular services when our pastor gave the invitation for us to receive the Lord Jesus Christ, I was one of those who made that decision and my unique spiritual journey had begun. I started to read my bible regularly which resulted to experiencing the blessings of God in my life.

I am enjoying my coaching in ICBL, this time with a different church-team. I promised myself that I would also coach my players about the game of life. One of the things I thank the Lord is that He has taken away my insecurities, doubts and frustrations about life.

My favorite verse in the bible is found in 2 Corinthians 5:17 “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; Old things are passed away; Behold all things are become new…”

Knowing God through Basketball...

A friend of my mine invited me to a basketball try-out. I did not know that it was a church basketball team that I was going to join. After attending the try-out, my brother and I was taken in to be part of the Temple Of Praise Christian Fellowship Basketball Team. I was very excited and looking forward to the upcoming tournament.
During our team practice, Ptr. William Calisang who is our team chaplain would always share with us some words of wisdom from the Bible. At first, I was not really that interested, but later on I felt God was speaking to me.
As a young kid, I was diagnosed to have something that was growing inside my brain. But during our team devotions, I asked our team chaplain to pray for healing. Since then, I have not been bothered by the sickness. I believe I received a miracle from the Lord.
I thanked God allowing me to be part of the church-team because I was able to received the Lord and trusted him with my life. Now my brother and I including our entire family attends the regular service of the church.
I am always looking forward to our games. I pray that God will use me to share the gospel to my teammates.

Welcome to ICBL!

Greetings fellow ICBL’ers,

In behalf of the ICBL Executive Board, welcome to our ICBL Fourteenth Conference!

As we begin our Inter-Church Basketball League Fourteenth Conference, our website will play a very important role in giving information to all the participating church-team in the tournament.

We will be posting regularly the schedule of games, game results, pictures and other important information that we need to update our participants.

Once again we would like to extend our appreciation to former Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) players Alfonso “Al” Solis of Red Bull Barako and Lawrence “Tata” Merced of Great Taste who grace our opening ceremonies last September 09, Saturday at the Almendras Gym.

If you have any comments & suggestions, please email them to us and we would be glad to consider them.

Once again we look forward for a very exciting season.

See you at the games!
